Hançalar, Çal (Denizli)
Tasting Indigenous grapes
A modern family winery in Hançalar village (Çal/Denizli) led by Salih and Aslı Kuzu. Vineyards have been planted since 2007; the winery building was completed in August 2021 and annual production runs to around 169,000 bottles.
The estate spans 550 hectares of land of which 350 are under vine, on the high-altitude Çal plateau — continental climate with wide diurnal swings.
The vineyard works with Anatolian indigenous reds — Çal Karası, Kalecik Karası and Acıkara — alongside Narince and Sultaniye whites and a full international set: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
Visits and tastings are arranged at the cellar.
