Akberg Şirince Şarapçılık
Şirince, Selçuk
Tasting Indigenous grapes
A boutique producer widely credited with establishing Şirince's reputation as a wine village. The winery was founded in 1997 when the village's old olive-oil factory and historic schoolhouse were converted for wine production; modern equipment was installed in 1999.
Şirince sits in the hills above Selçuk, catching the cool Aegean breeze at altitude. Akberg works within the village itself, pressing grapes and fruit gathered in the surrounding landscape.
The range covers indigenous Boğazkere, Öküzgözü and Narince alongside international Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. The winery is also a leading custodian of Şirince's long fruit-wine tradition.
Visitors can taste the range and pick up bottles directly at the Şirince village shop, open year-round.
