Grape varieties
A boutique family winery on Bozcaada, founded in 2010 by Austrian winemaker Oliver Gareis together with his father Hermann. It is one of the six documented wineries on the island, alongside Çamlıbağ, Ataol, Talay, Corvus and Gülerada.
Bozcaada's volcanic and chalky soils, near-constant north-easterly wind and long sunny days shape the island's distinctive viticulture.
The vineyard is planted to the Sicilian Grillo — unusual in Turkey — alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay. The family's Italian-trained enologist guides production.
Visits and tastings can be arranged by appointment. The winery is a short drive from the village centre, the Bozcaada castle and Ayazma beach.
