Ataol Şarapçılık

Bozcaada

Tasting Indigenous grapes

One of the oldest wine producers on Bozcaada. Founded in 1927 by an island family in the years immediately following the founding of the Turkish Republic, Ataol Şarapçılık is now run by the third generation.

Bozcaada's constant wind keeps the vines naturally healthy. The vineyards take in the salty Aegean air and the island's rocky, mineral soils.

The range is built around the island's indigenous varieties — Çavuş and Vasilaki (white), Kuntra and Karalahna (red) — of which Ataol is among the longest-standing custodians.

The cellar in Bozcaada town centre is open weekdays year-round for tastings and bottle purchases.
