A roughly 230-hectare estate in Süleymanpaşa (Tekirdağ), founded in 2000 by Can Topsakal — trained in France's Châteauneuf-du-Pape — and farmed under certified organic, biodynamic and sustainable practice. First commercial vintage was 2013. The Barbaros Bağ Evi hotel in the Süleymanpaşa town centre (Hürriyet, Akgül Sk. No: 3) serves as the estate's in-town tasting and stay base.
The vineyards lie along the Marmara coast of Thrace, in a belt where cool sea breezes temper summer heat. Tekirdağ's chalky soils suit the Rhône varieties at the heart of the planting plan.
Plantings emphasise the Rhône family — Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre — alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Châteauneuf-du-Pape consultant Xavier Vignon advises on the winemaking.
Cellar tours and tastings at the estate are by reservation, with the in-town Barbaros Bağ Evi tasting room offering an alternative for visitors based in Tekirdağ centre. Barbare holds a 3-star producer rating at the AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge.
The in-town Barbaros Bağ Evi hotel opened in 2013 and has 30+ rooms; it pairs with vineyard visits for an overnight stay.
