Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to visit Thrace's vineyards?

Late August through mid-October is harvest season — the most active time for vineyard walks and grape picking. Spring (May–June), when the vines have leafed out, offers a quieter alternative.

How do I get to the Thrace wine region from Istanbul?

Tekirdağ and Kırklareli are 2–3 hours from Istanbul via the O-3 motorway. For the vineyards around Lüleburgaz and Şarköy, a car or a transfer arranged by the winery is the most practical option.

What grape varieties are grown in Thrace?

The signature indigenous grapes are Papazkarası and Karasakız. International varieties — Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc — are also widely planted across the region.

Can I stay overnight at a vineyard in Thrace?

Several producers offer boutique on-site accommodation; advance booking is essential. Village guesthouses and farm stays along the Trakya Bağ Rotası provide additional options.
